Solid wire electrode for nickel alloys and dissimilar joints
CastoMag 45655, Ø 1.2 mm, 15.0 kg
The Ni-based weld metal is resistant to wet corrosion up to 400 °C, such as pitting, crevice and stress corrosion in oxidising and reducing media, e.g. seawater, formic and acetic acid. Scaling resistant up to 1,100 °C and max. 550 °C in sulphurous atmospheres.
Technical data
EN ISO 18274: S Ni 6617 (NiMo16Cr15Fe6W4)
AWS A5.14: ERNiCrMo-4
Mat. ref.: 2.4886
Applications
For joining nickel alloys and cast nickel materials, e.g.:
2.4610 - NiMo 16 Cr 16 Ti,
2.4819 - NiMo 16 Cr 15 W,
2.4856 - NiCr 22 Mo 9 Nb
and for joining these alloys with unalloyed and low-alloy steels, such as
P 265 GH and S 255 N to S 355 N
as well as with high-alloy CrNi steels, e.g.:
1.4529 - X 2 NiCrMoCu 25-20-6,
1.4539 - X 2 NiCrMoCu 25-20-6,
1.4583 - X 10 CrNiMoNb 18-12.
Typical examples of use are:
Joints and overlays on components that come into contact with organic and chloride-containing
media, as well as on components of flue gas desulphurisation and waste incineration plants.
Also suitable for:
Components subject to corrosion and thermal stress, such as raw gas pipe sockets, agitators, gas mixers, fans, chimney linings, heat exchangers, as well as components subject to wear and high temperatures,
such as hot-shear blades, hot-stripping tools, forging dies, press matrices and valve seats.
Processing instructions
Clean the welding areas. Adjust the heat control during welding to the component, its material and dimensions. Limit the interpass temperature to 150 °C. Use short, spray or pulsed arc welding; prefer pulse-arc technology. Use the stringer bead technique with low energy per unit length. Use wire brushes made of austenitic CrNi steels.
Welding positions: all except PG (f)
Current type: = (+)
Shielding gas: EN ISO 14175 - I1
(100 % Ar)
