Solid wire electrode for cut-resistant surfacing
CastoMag 45303
Solid wire based on a high-speed steel with increased toughness and good cutting performance. Martensitic weld metal with embedded carbides and retained austenite. Not prone to cracking. Good hot hardness and tempering resistance. High scale resistance. Can be heat treated.
Technical data
DIN EN 14700: S Fe4
Mat.-no.: 1.3348
Applications
For the build-up welding of tool and high-speed steels and for the manufacture of tools by hardfacing unalloyed and low-alloy steels.
Typical examples of use are:
Deposits on cold extrusion tools, cutting and embossing stamps; repairs to tools such as milling cutters, slotting cutters, spiral and threaded taps, metal saw blades, slotting and planing tools, as well as hardfacing of coupling forks, cams, grippers, mixer blades, coal ploughs or conveyor screws.
Processing instructions
Remove any cracked or damaged material. Clean the welding area. Adjust the heat input during welding to the component, its material and dimensions. Preheat the workpieces to 400–450 °C. Do not fall below the preheating temperature during welding. Use a short, spray or pulsed arc when welding; use pulse arc technology if possible.
