for cast iron materials
EutecTrode 2-24
Basic-graphite coated electrode for alloy-unrelated cast iron welding (cast iron cold welding). Homogeneous Ni-based weld metal. Steady arc and fine-droplet material transfer. Easily removable slag. Good machinability.
Technical data
DIN EN ISO 1071: E C Ni-Cl 1
AWS A5.15: ENi-Cl
Applications
For joining and cladding (cold welding of cast iron) of lamellar grey cast iron and malleable cast iron with a different alloy, as well as for joining copper-tin alloys with cast iron materials.
Typical examples of use are:
Machine tool carriages, bearings, crankcases, cable drums, slide rails, gears and sprockets, turbine blades (made of grey cast iron or CuSn alloys), erosion-damaged turbine housings, sealing rings, valve seats and housings of electric motors.
Processing instructions
Remove cracked and otherwise damaged material, as well as the casting skin. Weld repair cracks and drill the ends of the cracks. Clean welding areas. Re-dry at 150 °C for 2 hours. If possible and the conditions permit, preheat the component to 150 °C to a maximum of 300 °C. Weld with short stitch beads as cold as possible (≤ 300 °C).
Weld workpieces with short beads (1 – 3 cm long) to prevent shrinkage. Hammer the weld beads immediately after welding while they are still red-hot. Allow the workpieces to cool slowly, protected from drafts.
