CastoMag 45505 S

The ferritic-austenitic weld metal is particularly resistant to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress corrosion cracking in chloride-containing media up to operating temperatures of 250 °C. Lowest permissible operating temperature –40 °C.

CastoMag 45505 S can be used for the build-up welding of pump parts, drainage pipes in all
industrial sectors, screws, fittings in chemical plant and tank construction, as well as in offshore technology and shipbuilding.

Processing instructions
Clean the welding area. Adjust the heat input to the base material during welding. Maintain an interpass temperature between 100°C and 150°C. 
Avoid rapid cooling of the workpiece; if necessary, preheat to 100 °C for better austenite formation. A heat input of 0.5 to 2.5 kJ/mm must be maintained. Weld with short, spray or pulsed arc, preferring pulse-arc technology.
Use wire brushes made of austenitic CrNi steels.
