Eutalloy PE 8435

Self-flowing metal powder for powder deposition welding on glass molds

Eutalloy PE 8435

Gas atomized metal powder made of a self-flowing alloy based on nickel-boron-silicon. The special synergistic alloying elements improve the flow and wetting properties and reduce the working temperature of the coatings. The chemical composition and optimized grain size distribution ensure minimal overspray and a considerable reduction in reworking times.
Excellent modeling properties of the coatings, e.g. for edge applications. Significantly faster processing of the powder compared to conventional, commercially available self-flowing powders. The coatings are easy to machine.

Technical data
Coating hardness [HRC]: 35 (second layer)*
Grain size distribution [μm]: - 106 + 20
Solidus temperature [°C]: 858
Density [g/cm³]: approx. 8.4

Applications
Specially developed for wear-resistant, large-area coatings on forming tools in the glass industry, e.g. mold bases, blow heads, preform orifices, nozzles, gauges, etc.
Eutalloy 8435 PE can also be used for coatings on cast materials, steels, nickel alloys and aluminum bronzes, e.g. tools and dies in the plastics industry, bearing seats, shafts, cams, casting molds, eccentrics, etc.

Processing instructions
Oxides, dirt, grease and contamination of any kind must be carefully removed from the surface to be coated.
When coating glass molds made of GJL, a preheating of approx. 600 °C is generally recommended. If thin parts or edges are applied, preheating is not necessary. For large or solid workpieces, a preheating temperature of approx. 400 - 600 °C is recommended.
In order to largely exclude possible oxidation on the surface of the base material, it is recommended to pre-powder a thin layer of Eutalloy PE 8418, heat it locally and alloy the base material at the same time.
Flame setting of the SuperJet Eutalloy -S welding torch: neutral when powder passes through.
Distance of the flame cone from the weld pool: approx. 5 - 15 mm (application-specific).

*The achievable hardness values depend on the selected spraying parameters, preheating temperatures, etc. No guarantee can therefore be given that the hardness values will be achieved.
