Solid wire for hard coatings on cast iron
CastoMag 45326, Ø 1.2mm, 10.0 kg
MAG solid wire to be welded under mixed gas for build-up welding on cast iron with nodular graphite. The weld metal can be deposited directly onto the base material without a buffer layer. Resistant to impact loads, even on edges and corners. Coatings are virtually crack-free and achieve a hardness of 54 - 57 HRC in the second layer. Spatter-free material transfer, position welding is possible. The wire is well suited for robot welding and guarantees high deposition rates.
Technical data
Special alloy
Hardness: 54 - 57 HRC
Applications
For applying wear protection coatings to corners, edges and surfaces of deep-drawing dies in car body construction and tools for cold forming.
Processing instructions
Mechanically process damaged areas. Welding is carried out without preheating and with a maximum intermediate storage temperature of 150 °C.
The wire can be welded using short, spray and pulsed arc welding. The pulse technique is to be preferred in order to reduce spatter formation to a minimum. In test welds on forming tools, build-up layers of 50 mm were realized, whereby the maximum hardness was determined after milling in the penultimate layer.
