Solid wire electrode for heat-resistant surfacing
CastoMag 45305, Ø 1.2 mm, 15.0 kg
Copper-plated solid wire electrode. Weld metal with martensitic matrix, embedded carbides and retained austenite. Good tempering resistance and high heat resistance up to 500°C. Excellent wear resistance against fatigue and adhesion. The properties can be adjusted by heat treatment. Machinable only in the soft-annealed condition.
Technical data
DIN EN 14700: S Fe 3
Mat. ref.: 1.2343
Applications
For the repair of tools made of similar alloy steels and for the manufacture of hot-working tools made of unalloyed and low-alloy steels.
Typical applications include:
hot shearing blades, die casting moulds for light metal processing, extrusion and hot trimming tools, hot pressing and piercing mandrels, punches and jaws for screw production,
forging dies, impact dies and die casting moulds.
Processing instructions
Remove any cracked or damaged material. Clean welding areas. Adjust the heat control during welding to the component, its material and dimensions. Preheat workpieces to 350–450 °C. Ensure a continuous supply of additional material.
