Solid wire electrode for welding galvanised sheets
CastoMag 45707
Good corrosion resistance to atmospheric influences, even in industrial and marine atmospheres. Work-hardening and cold-tough weld metal. Excellent for MIG brazing. Low zinc burn-off. Good wettability with the base material. Low spatter formation. Strength properties similar to those of the base material when MIG brazing galvanised sheets.
Technical data
EN ISO 24373: S Cu 6511 (CuSi2Mn1)
Applications
For joining copper, copper-zinc and copper-silicon alloys, e.g.:
2.0220 - CuZn 5,
2.0230 - CuZn 10,
2.0240 - CuZn 15,
2.1322 - CuMg 0.4,
2.1323 - CuMg 0.7
and for the deposition welding of copper and unalloyed ferrous materials.
Welding of copper types containing oxygen with an O2 content of more than 0.02% is not recommended.
For welding copper forgings and cast copper sculptures, as well as for the production of refrigeration plants (gas separation plants) and for MIG and plasma brazing of galvanised body panels.
Typical examples of use are:
Boilers, containers and their linings, heat exchangers, distilling and evaporating plants in the chemical, sugar and paper industries, as well as in waste water treatment plants. Also for connecting earthing strips in electrical systems.
Processing instructions
Remove any cracked or otherwise damaged material. Clean the welding area. Adjust the heat control during welding to the component, its material and dimensions, preheating solid workpieces up to 600°C. Use a short, spray or pulsed arc when welding; use pulse arc technology if possible.
When MIG and plasma brazing, use the stringer bead technique with low heat input. Hold the torch at a slight angle when MIG brazing.
Welding positions: all except PG (f)
Welding current type: = (+)
