1800 - Cadmium-free silver solder

Cadmium-free silver solder for iron and copper materials

Castolin 1800

Cadmium-free silver solder with low soldering temperature. Low viscosity. Very good flow. Excellent flow, wetting and capillary properties. High corrosion resistance. For tough joints with high strength. Similar in color to stainless steels. Permissible operating temperatures from - 200 °C to 200 °C.

Technical data
Brazing alloy ISO 17672: ~ Ag 156
EN 1044: ~ AG 102
DIN 8513: L-Ag55Sn
Melting interval [°C]: 620 - 660 (Sol./Liq.)
Soldering temperature [°C]: 650
Density [g/cm³]: 9.4

Applications
For gap brazing, also in series production of e.g: Unalloyed and low-alloy steels (structural steels, case-hardening, heat-treatable and nitriding steels), alloy steels (tool steels), high-alloy steels (stainless CrNi steels), nickel, nickel alloys, copper and copper alloys as well as malleable cast iron (GTW).

Typical application examples are
Equipment and machinery in the food and beverage industry such as bronze and brass fittings, piping, nozzles, cladding and instruments; apparatus for heating and cooling technology.

Processing instructions
Clean soldering areas. Round off edges. Use flux as a paste. Coat soldering surfaces with flux. Heat the tip of the soldering rod and dip it into the flux. Preheat the workpiece widely and continuously. Do not overheat. Remove corrosive flux residues.
Heat sources: Flame soldering (acetylene), HF induction, oven (with and without shielding gas), resistance heating.
