Cadmium-free special solder alloy for iron, copper and nickel materials
Castolin 1812
High silver content, cadmium-free special alloy with low working temperature. An equivalent
alternative to the low-melting cadmium-containing silver brazing alloys.
Very low viscosity. Excellent flow, wetting and capillary properties. For ductile solder joints with high strength.
Similar in color to stainless steels. Flux coatings of the coated rods are boric acid-free.
Can be used for operating temperatures from approx. - 200 °C to 150 °C (without loss of strength).
Technical data
Brazing alloy ISO 3677: B-Ag56CuZnSnGa 610/630
Melting interval (Sol./Liq.) [°C]: 610 - 630
Soldering temperature [°C]: approx. 620
Tensile strength [MPa]: 420 (according to DIN EN 12797 on E295)
Shear strength [MPa]: approx. 150 - 250 (according to DIN EN 12797)
Density [g/cm³]: 9.1
Applications
For gap brazing, also in series production, e.g.: unalloyed and low-alloy steels (structural steels, case-hardening, heat-treatable and nitriding steels), alloy steels (tool steels), high-alloy steels (stainless CrNi steels), nickel, nickel alloys, copper and copper alloys as well as malleable cast iron (GTW) and hard metals.
Typical applications include
Equipment and machines in the electrical industry, vehicle construction, toolmaking. Apparatus made of stainless steel and brass, shut-off and control fittings and pressure gauges, air conditioning systems, heat exchangers, compressors and pipelines in refrigeration technology, clamp connections on cables, rotors and encapsulated heating resistors in the electrical industry, saw blades, diamond segments and carbide tools, knife manufacture, precision mechanical components in the watchmaking industry.
Processing instructions
Clean soldering areas. Round off edges. Coat soldering surfaces with flux. Heat the tip of the soldering rod
and dip into the flux. Preheat the workpiece widely and continuously. Do not overheat. Remove corrosive flux residues.
Heat sources: all flame soldering processes, HF induction, resistance heating.
Delivery form
Castolin 1812: bare filler rod
GreenRod 1812 XFC: flexible, flux-coated solder rod
