Applications
For gap and joint brazing, e.g: Unalloyed and low-alloy steels (structural steels, case-hardening, heat-treatable and nitriding steels), high-alloy steels (stainless CrNi steels), nickel, nickel alloys, copper and copper alloys, aluminum-bronze (CuAl alloys), malleable cast iron (GTW) and carbide.
Typical application examples are:
Bronze and brass fittings, band saw blades, electrical contacts, hard metal tools, soldering of diamonds, cable lugs, current collectors, galvanized earthing rails, connections of resistance elements, refrigeration technology, brass instruments, chandeliers and metal goods.
Processing instructions
Clean soldering areas. Round off edges. Coat soldering surfaces with flux. Heat the tip of the soldering rod and dip it into the flux. Preheat the workpiece widely and continuously. Do not overheat. Remove corrosive flux residues.
Heat sources: Flame soldering (acetylene; neutral to slightly reducing), gas torch, oven (with and without shielding gas), HF induction, resistance heating.
Delivery form
Castolin 181: bare filler rod
Castolin 181 F: flux-coated solder rod
