MIG/MAG welding process

The MIG process is similar to manual metal arc welding in that the arc is ignited between the metal electrode and the workpiece. The electrode is also the consumable filler material. The most important differences are that the wire electrode
is a thin solid or flux-cored wire that is unwound from a wire spool. In addition, the shielding gas must be supplied from outside. As the wire electrode is fed continuously,
the process can also be described as semi-automatic welding. The pulse mode was developed to stabilize the arc at low current values below the limit range and thus avoid short circuits and weld spatter. Metal transfer is achieved by pulses of current that have enough energy to deposit a drop of weld.
Castolin Eutectic has developed special build-up alloys for industrial wear protection, repair and joining applications with EnDOtec (cored wire) and CastoMag (solid wire), which are complemented by a complete, high-quality range of MIG/MAG welding equipment using the latest technologies.

The MIG process is similar to manual metal arc welding in that the arc is ignited between the metal electrode and the workpiece.

The electrode melts during welding. The wire for welding comes from a roll and can be either solid or filled. The shielding gas must also be supplied from outside.

As the wire electrode is fed continuously, the process can also be described as semi-automatic welding. The pulse mode ensures that the arc remains stable. This prevents short circuits and bad welds at low current.

Metal transfer is achieved by pulses of current that have enough energy to deposit a drop of weld.

With EnDOtec® (cored wire) and CastoMag®, Castolin Eutectic offers special wire types for industrial tasks such as repair and wear protection. There are also suitable, high-quality welding machines with the latest technology.

MIG-MAG welding is a frequently used welding method. It is used for many different tasks.

This welding process is very efficient and delivers good results. A wire is constantly fed in. A shielding gas prevents the welding area from becoming dirty.

Castolin Eutectic wires not only make welding better, but also give you good control. They improve the weld and make it more stable.

During the MIG-MAG welding process, good preparation of the weld is of great importance. Thorough cleaning and degreasing of the workpieces ensures optimum welding quality. Castolin Eutectic MIG-MAG wires offer you the reliability and performance you need for precise welding results.
