Cobalt hard alloy for wear protection
CastoWig 45421 W, Ø 3.2mm, 5.0 kg
Co-based heat-resistant weld metal. High hot hardness and hot wear resistance. Tempering and thermal shock resistant. Resistant to wet and high-temperature corrosion. Scale resistant up to 1,000 °C. Low coefficient of friction with metallic sliding friction. Insensitive to adhesive wear (even in the absence of lubrication). Machinable by chip removal. High deformation resistance and work hardening.
Technical data
DIN EN 14700: S Co1
AWS A5.13: RCoCr-E
Hardness: ~330 HV 30
- work-hardened: ~550 HV 30
Applications
For build-up welding of unalloyed, low-alloy and high-alloy steels, tool steels and corresponding cast steels as well as nickel-based alloys.
Typical applications are
Hot work tools such as trimming tools, shear blades, block tongs and hot-hole mandrels; components subject to wear and corrosion such as extruder screws, pressing and drawing tools, sealing surfaces in control and shut-off fittings (valves and gate valves); thermally stressed components such as hardening grates, flare heads, burners and other furnace components.
Processing instructions
Remove cracked or damaged material. Clean welding areas. During welding, adjust heat conduction to the component, its material and dimensions. Preheat to at least 450 °C for TIG welding. For gas welding, reduce the flame.
Ensure a continuous supply of filler material. Do not remove the molten rod end from the shielding gas flow. Do not fall below the preheating temperature during welding. Allow to cool in still air.
Welding positions: all, except PG (f)
Type of current: = (-)
