EutecTrode 640 Electrode

Electrode for abrasion-resistant surfacing

EutecTrode 640

Basic rutile-coated electrode with high-alloy, austenitic CrNiMn weld metal. Scale-resistant up to 900 °C, corrosion-resistant, resistant to hot cracking and capable of cold working. High toughness and ductility.

Technical data
DIN EN 14700: E Fe10

Applications
For welding tough and expansion-compensating buffer layers prior to hardfacing, as well as for hardfacing on workpieces made of austenitic manganese steel and dissimilar joints.
Furthermore, for joint welding and build-up welding on steels, such as steels with increased sulphur content, steels with high carbon content and cast steel, as well as high-strength, alloyed and low-alloy tempering and tool steels, heat-resistant and cold-tough steels, CrNi and manganese steels, as well as martensitic and ferritic Cr steels.

Processing instructions
Remove any cracked or damaged material. Clean the welding areas. Re-dry at 350 °C for 2 hours. Adjust the heat control during welding to the component, its material and dimensions. Keep the interpass temperature as low as possible. Austenitic austenitic manganese steels should be welded without preheating and as cold as possible (≤ 300 °C).
