You won't believe your eyes!
Crystal 2.0
The fully automatic OPTREL Crystal 2.0 welding hood was presented to the public for the first time at the EuroBLECH trade fair in Hanover in October 2018. From the very first moment, it attracted the attention of all professional welders, especially with its revolutionary Crystal Lens Technology 2.0, which makes the Crystal 2.0 the world's first welding hood that has a DIN 2 darkening level when inactive and offers incredible color rendering when active (during welding). The hood is suitable for all welding processes (except laser), soldering, plasma cutting or grinding.
Thanks to TRUE COLOR VIEW technology, you can see everything that happens before, during and after welding in full clarity. When active, the image is detailed, high-contrast and has an incredibly wide color spectrum. Applies to XuperTop5 and Crystal 2.0 hoods
CRYSTAL LENS TECHNOLOGY 2.0
Thanks to the innovative CRYSTAL LENS TECHNOLOGY 2.0 (CLT 2.0), the hood offers a unique darkening level of DIN 2 when inactive.
Conventional welding hoods have an inactive darkening level of DIN 3 to DIN 4. Even if it appears that the difference in light transmission compared to DIN 2 is not great, the reality is quite different. While the light transmission of DIN 4 is approx. 5%, the light transmission of DIN 2 is approx. 31%. And that is an almost abysmal difference... The manufacturer's slogan "You won't believe your eyes" is therefore 100% fulfilled thanks to CLT 2.0 technology.
AUTOPILOT blackout setting with correction
OPTREL's unique "AUTOPILOT"(adaptive blackout) solution automatically adjusts the blackout level during welding. The additional brightness sensor immediately detects changes in the intensity of the welding arc and automatically adjusts the blackout level. This means you are always perfectly protected, regardless of changes in arc intensity and welding current. In "AUTOPILOT" mode, a correction of ± 2 DIN degrees can be made manually. Manual dimming adjustment is no longer necessary - but still available at the touch of a button whenever you need it.
Manual dimming adjustment
In addition to the "AUTOPILOT" mode, the hood also allows normal manual setting of the DIN value in the range 4 - 12. The setting is made in 2 stages: DIN 4 - 8 and DIN 8 - 12. The switch and the DIN level setting are located on the outside of the hood.
The sensitivity setting is located on the outside of the DIN unit.
The hood allows the sensitivity to be adjusted according to the ambient light (dark environment - lower sensitivity, bright environment - higher sensitivity), including "Super High" mode for extreme sensitivity. The "Super High" mode is designed for welding currents from 3 A. The sensitivity control is located on the outside of the hood.
Reaction speed
The reaction speed of the self-welding cartridge is important for perfect eye protection. The OPTREL Crystal 2.0 hood enables lightning-fast switching from light to dark and vice versa. The light/dark switching time is 0.100 ms at room temperature, 0.070 ms at an ambient temperature of 55° C. The light/dark switching time can be set continuously from 0.1 to 2.0 seconds. The setting is made using a rotary knob on the inside of the cassette.
TWILIGHT function
The "TWILIGHT" function, with which the OPTREL crystal2.0 is equipped, refers to the transition from dark to light. With conventional extractor hoods, the change between light and dark is gradual. After prolonged welding, this transition can be uncomfortable for the welder and the eyes can be temporarily "blinded". This is precisely what the " TWILIGHT" function prevents - the hood cassette switches smoothly from dark to light mode. The " TWILIGHT" function reduces eye strain and thus enables fatigue-free welding over longer periods of time.
Individual setting of the angle sensor detection
On welding sites, situations can arise in which the hood cassette inadvertently reacts to the arc of another welder in the vicinity. OPTREL has a solution: By using a patented adjustable sensor strip, the angle detection can be reduced from 80° to 60°. This prevents the cartridge from reacting to welding processes in the vicinity of the welder.
Switch for welding/grinding mode
The hood allows you to switch to grinding mode. The "grind on/off" switch is located on the outside of the hood and is easy to operate even when wearing gloves thanks to its size. At the touch of a button, the hood switches to the inactive DIN 2 state and offers not only comprehensive protection of the entire face from sparks and flakes, but also clear and natural colors and a good view of the grinding area thanks to CLT 2.0 technology.

Reduction of the welding force
Using the welding hood all day puts considerable strain on the welder's cervical spine. Every unnecessary gram of weight is noticeable. That is why the OPTREL crystal2.0 hood was developed with the aim of keeping the weight as low as possible. The result is one of the lightest hoods on the market at 460 g. In combination with a special reflective coating that reflects the heat back, the OPTREL crystal2.0 hood offers maximum welding comfort and reduced strain even during all-day use.
