Seamless flux-cored wire for unalloyed and low-alloy steels
EnDOtec DO*254 S, Ø 1.2mm, 15.0 kg
Seamless nickel-alloyed (<2%) metal powder flux-cored wire electrode for gas-shielded arc welding of high-strength carbon steels and carbon-manganese steels. Excellent single and multi-layer weldability. EnDOtec DO*254 is very easy to weld in all positions with high deposition efficiency, excellent weld appearance and low spatter, and achieves exceptional mechanical properties, especially at low temperatures (-60°C).
Technical data
EN ISO 17632-A: T50 6 1 Ni M M21 1 H5
AWS A5.28: E80C-Ni1-H4
Applications
This wire is suitable for various applications, such as root welding in offshore applications, pipelines, bridge construction, shipbuilding or for weathering steels.
Processing instructions
Welding equipment
EnDOtec flux cored wire electrodes can be welded with most conventional constant voltage power sources. Equipment with a programmable, pulsed arc produces optimal results. Castolin Eutectic recommends welding machines with a four-roll wire feeder and the use of a plastic liner.
Preparation
Completely remove cracked or damaged material and clean the welding area.
Preheating
Preheating depends on the carbon equivalent of the steel and on the size, thickness and geometry of the workpiece. Castolin Eutectic recommends:
- CE < 0.2: no preheating required
- CE 0.2 – 0.4: preheat 100 – 200°C
- CE 0.4 – 0.8: preheat 200 – 350°C.
Note that 12-14% Mn steels must never be preheated and that the workpiece temperature should be kept below 250°C during welding.
To achieve an optimal connection, the torch should be guided at an angle of 70-80°.
The weld metal is machinable. Arc, oxy-fuel or plasma cutting equipment can also be used.
Welding positions: PA, PB, PC, PD, PE, PF, PG according to EN ISO 6947
Current type: = (+)
Shielding gas: EN ISO 14175 - M21 (5-25 % CO2 - remainder Ar)
