Flux
AluTin 51 L
AluTin 51 L is a flux which is supplied in liquid form. It is intended for soldering aluminum and joining aluminum with copper, brass or copper-aluminum.
Technical data
Product color: yellow
Working temperature range: 120 - 350 °C
pH: 10 - 11
Density: 1.3
It can be moderately diluted with distilled water or ethyl alcohol.
Applications
This flux is mainly used with AluTin 51 alloys.
aluminum compounds (Si + Mg < up to 2 %) or for the dissimilar connection of copper/aluminum.
Processing instructions
Preparation
- If necessary, clean the joint surfaces and round off sharp edges.
- Degrease the parts with a suitable solvent.
- Coat all connecting parts with AluTin 51 L flux.
- Bring the parts into their final position.
- Set the welding torch so that you obtain a gentle, slightly carburizing flame.
- Heat the parts to be joined indirectly and evenly to the joining temperature.
- Do notoverheat the flux to avoid damage and do not hold the flame directly on the flux.
- Hold the end of the filler alloy rod to the joint.
- The filler alloy metal will spread to the hottest areas of the surfaces to be joined.
- Melt the filler alloy metal until the joint is completely filled.
Cleaning
- The residues of the AluTin 51 flux are water-soluble.
- They are usually removed by washing in hot water.
