Electrode for abrasion-resistant surfacing
CastoDur N 6070
The rutile-basic coated electrode produces a weld metal based on FeCrC. High density of embedded, extremely hard special carbides.
High abrasion and erosion resistance. Also resistant to high temperatures of 550–600°C. Resists abrasive wear by hard mineral materials, even very fine-grained and hard, abrasive materials. Very high yield >150%.
Technical data
DIN EN 14700: E Fe16
Hardness: 66 – 70 HRC
Applications
For hardfacing steels and cast steels.
Typical examples of use are:
- components subject to abrasive wear, such as extruder screws, mixer blades and scrapers in brickyards and the ceramics industry;
- screw conveyors, mixers, cement slurry pumps, guides, scrapers and edges of the charging devices of ball mills in the cement and construction industries;
- conveyor systems and slurry pumps in foundries, steel and aluminium works;
- components subject to erosion such as hammers for crushing non-ferrous household waste, limestone, lime, gypsum and iron ore.
Processing instructions
Remove any cracked or damaged material. Clean the welding area. Adjust the heat input during welding to the component, its material and dimensions. Austenitic manganese steels should be welded cold (≤ 300 °C) without preheating if possible. Limit the interpass temperature to 300 °C. For hardenable steels, welding of a buffer layer is required.
Welding positions: all except PG (f)
Current type: = (+) or ~
