Solid wire electrode for corrosion-resistant joints/surfaces
CastoMag 45612
The Ni-based weld metal is scale-resistant up to 1000 °C, heat-resistant up to 900 °C and cold-tough down to –196 °C. Not prone to cracking. Corrosion-resistant against media such as chlorine (dry), chlorides, fatty acids, phosphoric acid, salicylic acid and caustic soda. Maximum permissible operating temperature from -196 °C to +900 °C.

Applications
For the alloy-similar joint welding of
2.4816 - NiCr 15 Fe
and for dissimilar joints between high-alloy steels, e.g.:
1.4539 - X 2 NiCrMoCu 25-20-5,
1.4583 - X 10 CrNiMoNb 18-12,
1.4961 - X 8 CrNiNb 16-13,
1.4981 - X 8 CrNiMoNb 16-16,
1.4988 - X 8 CrNiMoVNb 16-13
and unalloyed and low-alloy steels as well as cryogenic steels, e.g.:
1.0345 - P 235 GH,
1.0425 - P 265 GH,
1.0461 - S 255 N,
1.0481 - P 295 GH,
1.0562 - P 355 N,
1.4922 - X 20 CrMoV 11-1,
1.5415 - 16 Mo 3,
1.5637 - 12 Ni 14,
1.5662 - X 8 Ni 9,
1.5680 - 12 Ni 5,
1.6311 - 20 MnMoNi 4-5,
1.6368 - 15 NiCuMoNb 5-6-4,
1.7335 - 13 CrMo 4-5,
1.7380 - 10 CrMo 9-10.
Also for multi-layer claddings on low-alloy steels.
Processing instructions
Remove any cracked or otherwise damaged material. Clean the welding area. Adjust the heat input to the component according to its material and dimensions. Limit the interpass temperature to 150 °C. Use a short, spray or pulsed arc, preferably a pulsed arc technique. Use wire brushes made of austenitic CrNi steels.
