EnDOtec DO*360X

Cored wire electrode for machinable hardfacing

EnDOtec DO*360X, Ø 1.6mm, 15.0 kg

Exclusive alloyed cored wire electrode for welding under shielding gas, ideal for maintenance and repair
and repair applications or for series production when maximum flawlessness, efficiency and productivity are required during welding.
The low-carbon special weld metal made from a maraging CoMoNi steel alloy is characterized by a ductile martensitic matrix (35 - 40 HRC) that can be easily machined with cutting tools. By means of subsequent artificial ageing, the entire weld metal can be homogeneously hardened to ~60 HRC in order to achieve optimum wear resistance without the risk of cracking or distortion, as is the case with conventional quenching and tempering.

Technical data
Hardness: 35 - 40 HRC
Artificially aged (550 °C - 3 h): 55 - 60 HRC
Max. Max. application temperature: 600°C

Applications
For the production, wear protection coating and maintenance of parts made of unalloyed, low-alloy and high-alloy steel and corresponding cast steels.
Particularly suitable for hot-work tool steels and injection molds for the production of die-cast parts
made of aluminum alloys, other light metals and polymer plastics.

Typical applications are
Tools and molds for cutting, trimming, shearing, embossing, forming, extrusion, metalworking, etc.

Processing instructions
Welding equipment
EnDOtec cored wire electrodes are suitable for most conventional DC power sources. Optimum performance is achieved with equipment with a programmable pulsed arc. Castolin Eutectic recommends wire feed systems with 4 knurled rollers for Ø 1.6 mm and plastic or graphite cores.

Preparation
Remove old weld metal and worn metal with ChamferTrode 03/04.

Preheating
Avoid or minimize preheating so that the weld metal can cool down quickly.

Pulsed arc technology can significantly improve productivity in semi-automatic welding.
Certain Castolin Eutectic machines incorporate a synergistic program with infinitely variable parameters that optimizes welding performance over a wide range of deposition rates with minimal heat input and facilitates positioning operations.

Welding technology
For multi-pass build-up welding in the normal position, an optimum bond is achieved by guiding the electrode at an angle of 70 - 80° to the direction of movement. The interpass temperature should not exceed 120 - 150 °C.

Machining
Use carbide-tipped tools. Alternatively, very precise, crack-free welding surfaces that do not require regrinding can be achieved using ED machining.

Heat treatment
The hardness achieved after artificial ageing depends on the temperature and duration of the heat treatment.
T = 550 °C for a period of 3 hours.
Cooling should take place slowly (50 °C / h).
