EnDOtec SafeHard 700 Flux-cored wire electrode

Flux-cored wire electrode for abrasion and temperature-resistant wear protection

EnDOtec SafeHard 700

Gas-protected cored wire with metal powder filling, ideal for series production or for maintenance and repair applications where maximum precision, efficiency and productivity are required.
This unique new alloy is free of chromium and nickel. In addition to complex tungsten, molybdenum, vanadium and niobium carbides, the alloy also contains boride hard phases. It can form a fine-grained structure. As a result, this alloy has an exceptional combination of impact and abrasion resistance and retains its mechanical-technological properties even at high temperatures (57 HRC at 600 °C; 41 HRC at 700 °C).

  • CrVl content (mg/m³): 0

  • Martensite structure with complex carbides and boron-rich phases
  • Low mixing due to reduced heat input.
  • Maximised yield.
  • Exceptional weldability.
  • Uniform weld bead profile.
  • Versatile use over a wide parameter range.
  • High deposition rate for lower labour costs.
  • Weldability in all positions

Processing instructions
Welding equipment
EnDOtec wire electrodes can be welded with all conventional MAG power sources. Optimum results can be achieved with programmable models that can be set to pulsed arc and CMT process. Castolin Eutectic recommends the use of wire feed units equipped with 4 knurled feed rollers. The use of Teflon or Teflon-carbon wire guide cores is recommended.

Preparation
Remove cracked or damaged material. Clean welding areas. Adjust the heat guidance during welding to the component, its material and dimensions.

Preheating
Preheating depends on the carbon equivalent of the steel and the size, thickness and geometry of the workpiece. Castolin Eutectic recommends:
CE < 0.2: Preheating not required
CE 0.2 - 0.4: Preheating 100 - 200 °C
CE 0.4 - 0.8: Preheating 200 - 350 °C.
Note that 12 - 14% Mn steels should never be preheated and the workpiece temperature should be kept below 250 °C during welding.

Buffer layer
For hardenable and 12-14 % Mn steels, weld a buffer layer with EnDOtec DO*02 or with the EutecTrode 646XHD hand electrode.

Welding parameters
Welding current:= (+)

Welding positions
PA, PB, PC, PD, PE, PF, PG according to ISO 6947

Welding technology
Welding with short arc, spray arc or pulsed arc, Pulsarc technology is preferable.

Processing
The weld overlay can be machined by grinding. Arc or plasma cutters can also be used.
