EutecDur N 9080 Rutile-basic coated electrode

Cobalt hard alloy for wear protection

EutecDur N 9080

Rutile-basic coated electrode with Cr-, Mo-, Ni-alloyed weld metal on Co-basis. Extremely corrosion-resistant hardfacing. Resists wet and high-temperature corrosion. High hot hardness and hot wear resistance. Tempering and thermal shock resistant. Scaling resistant up to 1,000 °C. Low coefficient of friction with metallic sliding friction. Resistant to adhesive wear (even in the absence of lubrication). Can be machined. High deformation resistance and work hardening.

Technical data
DIN EN 14700: E Co1
AWS A 5.13: ECoCr-E
Hardness: ~295 HB
Hardness (cold worked): ~500 HB

Applications
For the build-up welding of unalloyed, low-alloy and high-alloy steels and nickel materials.

Typical examples of use are:

  • Hot-working tools such as trimming tools, shear blades, ingot grippers and hot-hole mandrels;
  •  components subject to wear and corrosion such as extruder screws, pressing and drawing tools, sealing surfaces in control and shut-off valves (valves and gate valves);
  •  components subject to thermal stress such as hardening grids, flare heads, burners and other furnace components.

Processing instructions
Remove any cracked or damaged material. Clean the welding area. Adjust the heat input during welding to the component, its material and dimensions. When hardenable steels are used, a buffer layer must be welded. For multi-layer build-ups, the interpass temperature should not fall below 200 °C. Allow to cool in still air.
