stick electrode for cast iron materials
EutecTrode EC 4023
Basic-graphite coated stick electrode for alloy-unrelated cast iron welding (cast iron cold welding). High-strength Ni-based weld metal with embedded graphite. Not prone to cracking. The hardness corresponds to that of grey cast iron.
Technical data
DIN EN ISO 1071: E C Ni-Cl 1
AWS A5.15: ENi-Cl
Applications
For joining and cladding (cold welding of cast iron) of lamellar cast iron, spheroidal graphite cast iron or malleable cast iron as well as for joining steel or cast steel with cast iron materials.
Typical examples of use are:
gears, pumps, slide or compressor housings, stands for rolling mills, plate shears, presses, bending machines, crushers and paper machines, gear wheels, machine tool beds,
textile industry machines, covers, turbine housings and sealing rings, rolling mill cylinders made of nodular graphite cast iron in steelworks.
Processing instructions
Remove cracks and any other damaged material, as well as the casting skin. Weld repair cracks thermally and drill out the ends of the cracks. Clean the welding areas. Re-dry at 150 °C for 2 hours. If possible and the conditions allow, preheat the component to 150 °C to a maximum of 300 °C. Weld with short, stitch beads as cold as possible (≤ 300 °C).
Weld workpieces that are difficult to shrink with short beads (1 – 3 cm long). Hammer the weld beads while they are still red-hot immediately after welding. Allow the workpieces to cool slowly, protected from drafts.
Welding positions: all except PG (f)
Current type: = (-) or ~
