Ceramic powder for high-temperature coatings
MetaCeram 28085
Stabilized zirconia with very good thermal shock resistance. The maximum temperature (in continuous operation) is approx. 900 °C. Is not or only very slightly wetted by molten metal and also has very low thermal conductivity. The coating hardness is approx. 300 - 500 HV with simultaneously increased ductility against other ceramics.
Technical data
Hardness [HV 0.01]: 300 - 500*
Grain size distribution [μm]: 63/15
Applications
For flame spraying without melting of unalloyed, low-alloy and high-alloy steels and the corresponding cast steel grades.
Typical application examples are
Components which are subject to increased temperature changes. Components that come into contact with molten metal - e.g. feed hoppers for aluminum die casting.
Processing instructions
Remove damaged material. Round off or chamfer edges. Clean spray areas, preheat to 50 - 150 °C and roughen. Spray on a layer of primer powder in the preheated state. Maintain spray coat temperature between 80 °C and 160 °C and apply up to the desired coat thickness. Maintain a layer thickness of 0.6 - 0.7 mm. Allow to cool in still air.
Sprayer: CastoDyn DS 8000
Primer powder: ProXon 21021
*The achievable hardness values depend on the selected spraying parameters, preheating temperatures, etc. No guarantee can therefore be given that the hardness values will be achieved.
