Xuper 2240 Welding electrode

stick electrode for cast iron materials

Xuper 2240

The basic-graphite coated electrode produces a high-strength, Cu-alloyed weld metal based on NiFe. Not prone to cracking. High current carrying capacity. Stable arc. Easily removable slag. Uniform and finely feathered weld seams.

Technical data
DIN EN ISO 1071: E C NiFe-1 3
AWS A5.15: ENiFe-Cl

Applications
For non-alloy-related deposition and joint welding (cast iron cold welding) of cast iron materials such as cast iron with spheroidal graphite, malleable cast iron and lamellar grey cast iron, as well as for joints between cast iron and steel, cast steel, copper and nickel alloys.

Typical examples of use are:
machine housings, machine stands, pumps, presses, base plates, gearboxes.

Processing instructions
Remove cracked and otherwise damaged material, as well as the casting skin. Clean the welding areas. If possible and conditions permit, preheat the component to 150 °C to a maximum of 300 °C. Weld with short stitch beads as cold as possible (≤ 300 °C).
Weld shrink-impaired workpieces with short beads (1–3 cm long). Hammer off the weld beads immediately after welding while they are still red-hot.
