Cooling for UpTIG welding and the role of welding coolers
UpTIG welding is a form of TIG welding in which the arc is ignited between a non-consumable electrode and the workpiece. The electrode is inserted into the weld seam from above and the welding process is carried out using an argon gas. Cooling is an important component of the UpTIG welding process.
Why is cooling important in UpTIG welding?
A lot of heat is generated during UpTIG welding. This heat can cause the welding gun and other welding components to overheat. If the welding gun overheats, damage can occur, which can lead to a reduced service life of the gun. Overheating can also lead to a deterioration in welding quality. Sufficient cooling is therefore necessary to prevent overheating and damage and to ensure high welding quality.
The role of welding coolers in UpTIG welding
Welding coolers are special cooling devices that are used to cool the welding gun and other welding components during UpTIG welding. A welding cooler consists of a heat exchanger and a fan that draws air through the heat exchanger. The air cools the cooling medium flowing through the heat exchanger and the cooled medium is then fed back to the welding gun.
Welding coolers are available in different sizes to suit the requirements of the welding process. A smaller cooler is suitable for smaller welding processes, while a larger cooler is used for larger welding processes. A welding cooler can also be equipped with a thermostat to ensure that the coolant is kept at the correct temperature.
