Electrode for NiCrFe alloys and dissimilar steels
EutecTrode EC 4022
Electrode with a high nickel content, a very high recovery and melting point for joining, repairing and building up difficult-to-weld steels. This electrode offers the maximum safety margin for highly stressed welded joints of large workpiece cross-sections due to its excellent hot crack resistance and welding properties in constrained positions.
- Excellent weldability in position.
- Yield 150 %.
- High deposition rate.
- High elongation.
- Very high impact strength.
- Can be used on all types of steel.
- Low friction coefficient.
- Good corrosion resistance.
- Excellent thermal shock resistance.
- Electrode is insensitive to overheating.
- Easy slag removal.
Base metals
All types of steel, joints of different types of steel, types of steel of unknown composition, Ni alloyed steels.
Technical data
EN ISO 14172: ~ E Ni 6062 (NiCr16Fe8Nb)
AWS A 5.11: ~ ENiCrFe-1
Applications
Developed especially for welded joints that are difficult to shrink and for large workpiece cross sections in the following industries:
Cement industry: rotary furnace kiln rings, walls of ball mills, etc.
Railway: brake rails, brake shoes, etc.
Construction: machine booms, machine frames, crusher teeth, etc.
Mining: gripper arms, transport machines, etc.
Welding instructions
Preparation
For joining or repairing cracks in thick workpieces: U-shaped grooving with the grooving electrode ChamferTrode 03 or EutecTrode EC4000 (AC). For repairs, remove worn or fatigued metal by grinding.
Preheating
Generally not necessary.
For high-strength carbon steels, preheating to 100°C- 150°C may be necessary.
Welding
In the case of joints with severely restricted shrinkage, first plate the joint flanks to reduce the dilution with the base metal.
If there is a risk of hardening of the base metal, the first layer is carried out with the electrode 2.5 mm at a maximum weaving width of 2x the core wire diameter; welding process B is preferable.
Check for cracks.
Then fill the groove with the 3.2 or 4.0 mm electrodes, depending on the dimension, with subsequent hammering to avoid shrinkage stresses.
Welding parameters
Current type: =(+)
Welding process A
High amperage for solid workpieces, maximum welding speed.
Ø 2.5mm: 90-110 A
Ø 3.2mm: 130-150 A
Ø 4.0mm: 160-180 A
Welding process B
Low amperage for workpieces that must not be overheated, minimal dilution.
Ø 2.5mm: 70-90 A
Ø 3.2mm: 110-130 A
Ø 4.0mm: 140-160 A
Packaging and storage
Coated electrodes should be stored in their original packaging in a dry place until use, to prevent the coating from absorbing moisture. If the coated electrodes become damp, they must be dried. We recommend the following redrying conditions: 350°C / 2 hours.
