Solid wire electrode for copper-tin alloys
CastoMag 45703
Homogeneous weld metal. Increase in hardness and strength due to work hardening. Low coefficient of friction and high wear resistance at metallic sliding friction. Good corrosion resistance against drinking, industrial and seawater. Resistant against various organic acids, such as formic or citric acid.
Technical data
EN ISO 24373: S Cu 5210 (CuSn8P)
Mat. ref.: ~ 2.1022
AWS A5.7: ~ ERCuSn-A
Applications
For joining copper and copper alloys such as CuSn, CuZn and CuSnZn alloys to each other, as well as for dissimilar joints with steels, cast iron and nickel materials;
also for build-up welding of these materials.
Typical examples of use are:
Sliding surfaces of bearings, guide rails, worm spindles and impellers, gears, bushes, cams, coupling claws, slide valve seats, tap plugs, pump impellers, bells, art castings as well as repairs of shrinkage cavities and processing defects on new castings.
Processing instructions
Remove any cracked or otherwise damaged material. Clean welding areas.
Match the heat control during welding to the component, its material and dimensions. Preheat solid workpieces made of copper alloys and especially copper to 200–600 °C. Use short,
spray or pulsed arc welding; pulsed arc welding is preferred.
Welding positions: all except PG (f)
Current type: = (+)
